Investors & company facts
The industrial path off hexavalent chrome.
TripleHard® has been in industrial production since 2024 and its coating has been validated by a major global OEM. The continuous line has run as an industrial-scale prototype in Kuopio since August 2026, and its first version is complete. Production ramp-up with a rod manufacturer is the target for H1 2027; mass production on the continuous line is planned for 2027.
Company highlights
Four things to know.
-
Category
Engineering the industrial shift to trivalent hard chrome
TripleHard® is a patented nickel and trivalent chromium hard chrome designed to replace Cr(VI) hard chrome at industrial scale, as the EU restriction of Cr(VI) progresses.
-
Track record
Validated by a major OEM. In production since 2024.
Coating validated by a major global OEM, and in industrial production since 2024: hard-chrome-level hardness without heat treatment, rating 10 at 1000 h in neutral salt spray depending on the nickel underlayer, no rust after 34 months in mine service. Protected by 60+ granted national and regional patents.
-
Model
Engineering-led licensing.
Savroc takes each customer from the simulation of its parts to production in its own plant, and the licence keeps Savroc in the project for the long term. Continuous lines are built by an industrial equipment partner to Savroc's process design.
-
Scale
Target: H1 2027 ramp-up. Plan: 2027 mass production.
Production ramp-up with a rod manufacturer in H1 2027 (target), mass production on the continuous line in 2027 (plan). Licences agreed per customer, plant and territory.
Regulation and Savroc
The EU restriction and the line, side by side.
The ECHA restriction process for hexavalent chromium alongside Savroc's path from the laboratory to customers' plants. Status October 2026. Source for the regulatory steps: ECHA's registry of restriction intentions.
-
Cr(VI) compounds on the REACH authorisation list; since 2017 every use needs a time-limited authorisation.
Savroc founded 2012; coating development from 2013. The coating is validated by a major global OEM. Industrial production begins in 2024.
-
ECHA submits the restriction proposal: thirteen hexavalent chromium compounds, hard-chrome plating included. Plating on metal could continue only within set limits for worker exposure and emissions.
50+ process versions tested on Savroc's own 3D-printed pilot line.
-
RAC adopts its opinion; SEAC agrees its draft; public consultation until 19 August.
The industrial-scale line, built by ILMAR, is installed in Kuopio. First coatings in August 2026.
-
Where both stand today
-
Final SEAC opinion. The Commission and Member States then decide; timing not fixed.
By the end of 2026: the customer line defined, and the playbook for replicating it.
-
—
Target: production ramp-up with a rod manufacturer.
-
—
Plan: mass production on the continuous line. Licences agreed per customer, plant and territory.
Business model, market and IP
Business model

Market
Worldwide
A worldwide industry in transition.
Hard chrome protects parts across heavy industry, and every plating line faces the same regulatory clock.
Third-party estimates use different market definitions:

IP & know-how
60+
60+ granted patents, and the know-how in the line.
TripleHard® is protected by 60+ granted national and regional patents, and by the know-how built into the line, the simulation and the commissioning. Patent references come with the investor materials.
Long-term ambition
Towards the way the world makes hard chrome.
Our ambition, not a forecast: TripleHard® continuous lines in production at customers around the world, hydraulic rods and engine valves as the two reference applications, shock absorber rods following. The road there: the Kuopio prototype since August 2026, production ramp-up with a rod manufacturer in H1 2027 (target), mass production on the continuous line in 2027 (plan).
